Looking for ideas to explore Skye? We will send you our free interactive guide when you book – packed full of ideas of where to go and what to see.

HEAD OUT FROM THE DOOR
Whether in Portree or Broadford there are some wonderful walks from the door. If you’re staying at Harbour House, you can explore the village with its array of independent shops, cafes and wonderful restaurants or follow the scenic coast path to Scorrybreac. In Broadford, walk out onto the shore and explore Green Island or continue round to headland and look out for seals and otters along the way. Restaurants and shops are in walking distance too.
SEE THE ISLAND A DIFFERENT WAY
We love boat trips. They’re a brilliant way to see the island from a new perspective. Take the ferry to the magical Isle of Raasay and see amazing views of Skye; spend an afternoon on a glass-bottomed boat to see the life beneath you ; choose an adrenalin-buzzing rib ride out to the small isles, or a romantic venture to wild Loch Coruisk. You’ll be spoilt for choice.

WALKS AND CLIMBS GALORE
Skye and Lochalsh is made for walking and there are opportunities for all abilities. Explore magical Brother’s Point with its craggy outlines, head up to the Storr or the Quirang, or for more serious outings, the Cuillin Hills are a short drive away from Broadford or Portree. We can recommend lots of shorter walks with phenomenal views where you can beat the crowds too.
KAYAKING & PADDLEBOARDING
Bring your kayaks and explore Broadford or Portree bays or head out with a guided excursion. There are half days, full days or taster days for all the family to choose from, or for more adventure, try coasteering around the spectacular sea cliffs.

WET YOUR WHISTLE WITH A WEE DRAM
With three distilleries to choose from on Skye and Raasay, booking a visit is a perfect introduction to ‘ the water of life’. You can book distillery tours or tasting experiences, and if you’re nominated driver, you’ll be able to bring your whisky home.
A LAND OF CASTLES AND CLANS
Skye has been occupied since time immemorial – look out for brochs, the iron age dwellings or visit the ancestral castles of the clans. Dunvegan Castle, Clan Donald Castle, Brochel Castle and more await to be explored, and over the bridge Eilean Donan Castle is a must.

SEARCH OUT THE DINOSAURS
In such an incredible landscape it’s not such a stretch to imagine dinosaurs roaming. No wonder that the opening scenes of “Prometheus” with it’s tale of ancient beings were filmed here. Head up to Staffin to see if you can spot the dinosaur footprints or look out for fossils along the way. In Broadford you can hunt for fossils as you wander along part of the Jurassic Coast.
SEEK OUT THE WILD PLACES
Why not head out on a wildlife tour with a local guide or ghillie? They’ll take you to unexplored corners of the island where you’re likely to see otters, eagles, porpoises and more.

FANTASTIC FOOD
In recent years Skye’s choice of fabulous cafes and restaurants has exploded. With rope-grown mussels, hand-dived scallops, venison from the hills and langoustines from local waters, you can opt for fine-dining for a special treat or take your pick from a wide choice of options. Our only guidance is to book well-ahead for any special occasion.
EVERYONE DESERVES CAKE
From quirky cafes to huts with a view, there are some lovely places to while away the hours.

Welcome to Waterside Skye – four beautiful properties designed for character and comfort with a bit of luxury thrown in. Each one is by the sea and in walking distance of shops and restaurants. We hope you’ll love them as much as we do.
