About Waterside Skye

Lovely self-catering accommodation for two nights or more

You may not have the luxury of being able to enjoy a week or two on Skye but if you would still like the independence of your own private accommodation, a place to relax without being overlooked and the option to cook in, then Waterside Cottage or Cabin might just fit the bill.    We aim to provide all the comforts you need in the privacy of your own space and our minimum booking is for just two nights (we may even be able to offer single nights in winter). That provides the perfect opportunity for celebrations with family and friends, romantic breaks away, or a whistle stop tour of the glorious Isle of Skye.

Wherever you come from we hope that by staying at Waterside you will take away happy memories and to that end we always try our best to accommodate any special requests and we always listen to feedback and to suggestions for improvement.

    A great location

The cottage, (built in 1857), and the cabin (new in 2017), sit on Broadford Bay, one of the best birdwatching areas in the island.  We also think it’s in a great location –  close to all the restaurants, shops and cafes of Broadford; central to visit the whole of Skye and Lochalsh; yet when the tide is out you just need to head down the garden to discover wonderful birdlife, rockpools, beaches, and islands which you’ll usually have to yourself. At high tide the water comes within a few feet of the garden’s edge – ideal for launching that canoe. It’s a great area for kids and adults alike – wellie boots advised for splashing around on the shore – and if you have dogs (unfortunately we can only accept dogs in the cottage) a perfect place to let them run. If you’re lucky you may discover a fossil or two for which this part of the coast is renowned.

    Private outdoor areas

The cottage and cabin share parking (2 parking spaces for the cottage and 1 for the cabin), but apart from that each property is private with its own outdoor area. The cottage has a garden which leads to the shore and the cabin has its own secluded patio and decking. From both locations you can gaze out over the bay and to the mountains beyond. Watch out for the herons which are resident at the water’s edge, and the ducks which usually parade through the grounds from spring to summer.

    Stay all year round

Skye is an amazing place all year round. Visit in autumn and winter and you’ll find the wood burning stove in the cottage made up ready for your arrival and hot water bottles in the bedrooms to keep you extra toasty. There will be a wood burning stove in the cabin too from early 2018.

So whether you are a couple, a group of friends, colleagues or a family, we welcome you to Waterside Skye . We are sure you’ll have a lovely time
