We’re so pleased to hear that plans to create a new distillery on Raasay have been approved.
Highland Council planners gave their backing to the project which will convert the Victorian Borodale House into a distillery, visitor centre and luxury accommodation in a move which will bring much needed income to this beautiful island.
Vole and bat specialists had to be consulted as part of the planning discussion, but with approval granted R&B Distillers say construction work will start in April, with whisky in production from early 2017.

The ferry to Raasay leaves from Sconser Pier which is just 15 minutes drive from the cottage. Raasay makes for a great day out and gives some of the most stunning views of Skye. Check out our gallery of photos here.
