We know – January has been pretty cold and dark but then along comes a day which makes up for everything else. Earlier this week the clouds cleared, the sky was blue and the sun came out and this was the result, taken at 10am with the sun low on the horizon. Just beautiful. This was taken on the shore just in front of Waterside. You can see Beinn na Caillach in the background, a great short mountain walk if you’re feeling active with the reward of panoramic 360 views from the top on a good day.
If you are interested in photography then any time of year on Skye is good but the light from October to February can be truly exceptional. It’s well worth visiting for a winter break when the crowds have gone and you can have the landscape to yourself. It may not be clear every day, but when the clouds break, you’ll see it has been well worth waiting for.
